MSS is now official! :)

Hi guys and gals..

We know its been a while after our last update... but here we go:

1. All the paperwork have been submitted and we we got a reply
yesterday(Tuesday). Yes... We are now finally official! :)

2. The IGM was a success! :D thanks everyone for being there...Hope
you guys enjoys the pizza! The result of the election is as follows:

- A copy of the agenda for that day and a copy the MSS constitution have been attached to this email.
- Refreshments will be available.
- Please RSVP to this email if you are coming or not. As for those who can't make it - we'll put your names in the 'Apologies list' of the agenda (i.e those who are absent with prior notification).

Hi all,

Thanks again for the response. Here are the latest updates:

1. You all have received the email by now - Compatriots' Lunch will be held on Tuesday from 1-2 pm @ Yasuko Hiraoka Room, Sydney Myer Asia Center. According to ISS Mauritius counts is "Countries in Africa", so they did not forget us. Nevertheless, its good to have confirmed it.. Alors pa blier amen couto, fourchette et goblet!!! :D

2. From what we have gathered, some emails sent from this address have been considered as spam by Hotmail.. so just check ur spam lists at tell others to do so..

3. You will all receive an email soon from ISS (International Student Society) - concerning the upcoming IGM! Here is a snippet:

As you all probably know by now, we are setting up a Maurtian Student
Society, and we will be holding an Innaugural General Meeting(IGM)on one
of the following days at 5pm:

-Thursday 14th August
-Friday 15th August

It would be great if you all could attend and participate in the first
official meeting of what is going to be "your own society". So, could you
please notify us your preferred day, so that we can finalise the
day/time/venue for the holding of the IGM. Please reply to the following
email adress: maurissoc@gmail.com

4. To setup a society, we require at least 30 members(from melbourne uni) to sign up (which will be done during Compatriots lunch). However, non-melbourne uni students are also welcomed!! On the day of the IGM, at least 20 members from melbourne uni must be present.. So, plz be there people! Again, non-melbourne uni students are also welcomed. An election will be held and a commity will be set up... more on this later. We need to submit the list of members (to be circulated during compat. lunch) by Friday, 8th of August. So, if you cant make it to to lunch, let us know and we'll try to send you the list.

For the time being.. that all folks..

Hi Everyone,

First of all, a big thank you for all the replies... And plz pass on "le message" to the others..

Secondly, a Facebook group has been created - called MSS.. people interested in maintaining the group, let us know - a couple of "admin" places are still up for grabs..

Thirdly, the AGM will be held during the second week of semester. The day has not yet been decided, but its most probably on a Friday during lunch time.. its yet to be confirmed.

Fourthly, as some of you have already noticed, "Mauritius" is not in the compatriots' lunch list for this semester.. :S   A team of commandos will be dispatched soon to infiltrate MelbUni and find out why this is so... or rather 'not so'!! (Nou pou mort de faim sinon!!!)

Last but not the least, Mesdames, Mesdemoiselles et Messieurs... a little note of appreciation to Kevin Mungur for his improved design for the banner... for the time being its still a 'logo', but its looking good!! Alors, sans plus tarder, taadaaaaa... (plz refer to attachment)...

So, on this positive tone, we wish you all "bonne rentrée" !!!

Hello "les jeunes de la société Mauricienne"...

After so much time trying to set up this society, we finally made it through all the paperwork. MSS is almost official. An Annual General Meeting has to be held by the 15th of August where some general 'house-keeping' is to be done. Its probably going to be held during the second week of this semester.. try to be there people...more on that in the next emails.

We are sending this email to everyone who signed the "Expression of Interest" we passed during the Compatriots' Lunch that was held early last semester. Thanks for the support. MSS is your society, and we are doing this for the first time - any help, support or suggestion is really most welcome. We hope that MSS is useful to everyone, and "pa nek ene biblo ki pou ramasse la poussiere".. for instance, badminton and soccer matches can be organised through the society, we could also organise outdoors activities like BBQs (pou ban zenfan affamés kuma nu) or outings, "ou meme ban soirée sega".. up to you guys.. Use it well, 'coz we get funded by the uni to some extent.

Now to the main purpose of this email:

We need to confirm your contact details. Moreover, we are thinking of making a contact list and sending it out to everyone. Of course, there are some privacy issues here, so we need your opinions on these. Or would it be better to do things on Facebook. (but some people don't use Facebook yet.. yeah it's a reality.. :S). We hope to hear from you soon about this matter.

For the time being we'll try to email each one of you guys individually to confirm your details. Plz reply.. a simple reply will be enough.. "pa bizin met.. 'il etait un beau jeudi matin pendant les vacances hivernales..' ". If we dont get any reply, we'll assume that the email address is not correct and we WILL hunt you down!! :P
And if you have friends who do not know about this society, please let them know.. and tell them to send their contact details - at least an email address. Of course, A Facebook group will make our jobs easier..
