that they sent us. (listed in alphabetical order of last names)

--------------
DESCRIPTIONS
--------------

ADRIAN CHU for General Representative

"My name is Adrian Chu, and I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of
Environments.

I went to high school in College du Saint Esprit. I have been
reasonably active in the MSS during the 1st semester. I have had past
experience working with a team of

people, having been an active member of the editing team of the high
school newsletter. I would like to stand as a candidate for general
representative because I believe

that I can bring my share and contribute to the group. I consider
myself to be a responsible person and a hard worker.
If you consider me suitable for this position, I shall dedicate myself
to keeping the Mauritian Society an active, productive entity."
_______________

CAROLINE CHUNG TIP for General Representative

"My name is Caroline, 2nd year student enrolled in the Bachelor of
commerce, majoring in Economics and Finance. I would like to stand as
a candidate for the MSS as a

general representative. I believe that I am a quite sociable and
responsible person; my main motive being to proceed with the easy
going of the group and be committed to

the tasks I will be assigned to. It will also be quite a honour for me
to be one of the representatives of my beautiful country."

_______________

TRACY KOO for President, Vice-president

"Many people call me Tracy, also known as Tracy Koo, well simply
because thats my name. This is going to be my final semester at
Melbourne Uni and I wish to end it in a

memorable fashion. I am one of the general representative of the 08/09
committee but you probably wouldnt have seen my face cause I was
abroad. But be assured that Ive

kept up with the events that took place. As many of you know, my
Commerce degree would allow me to dedicate some of my spare time to
the club. I've actually come up with

some ideas already and would be glad to share it with you guys. I am
quite a freak in organising events but I love it and take pride in it.
I admit that I may not be the

most likeable person around, but I'll get this club up and
running. This is my last chance to get involved in the club, and what a
better way of doing it than by being the

organiser myself. So, I'm running for PRESIDENCY! And yes, if I do get
voted, you'll have to call me Miss President! xD"
_______________

DEAN LAU for President, Vice-president, General Representative

"First name: Dean Mikael
Surname: Lau Hing Sung

Well I believe I already possess valuable experience of being a leader
or an executive member thanks to my two years as scout troop leader
back in Mauritius and if ever I

am elected, the obligations that come along will certainly not be new to me."
_______________

CEDRIC LECORDIER for Treasurer

"Name: Cedric Lecordier
College du Saint-Esprit 2007
Currently enrolled in a bachelor of commerce
I would like to stand as candidate for the position of treasurer. This
is mainly because I think the job description suits my degree( and
because I used to be good at

Monopoly)
I think of myself as a reliable person gifted with good interpersonal
skills. I used to be part of the editorial team at Cse back in the
days- I enjoy teamwork.
I do not talk much and find pleasure in listening to people( if that helps).
As you would have noticed, I do not particularly fancy writing about myself.
Finally , English is not my first language and I prefer French and
Creole(this is irrelevant info, I guess).
I would be glad to serve my fellow Mauritians to the best of my ability.
Cheerio"

_______________

MELANIE LEUNG for General Representative

Current Vice-President
_______________

KEVIN MUNGUR for Secretary

"Name: Kevin Mungur
Course: Bachelor of Environments (Civil Systems)
UMSU Member: Yes

I would like to stand as a candidate for the position of Secretary in
the Mauritian Student Society. I have, since the launching of this
group been an active member,

first as a general representative, and later as secretary. I believe
my experience will help in the preparation of future events, and
maintain a healthy relation with the

UMSU. I can say with pride that we have done a great job in the
preceding year, and I consider it a pleasure to dedicate some of my
time to the MSS."

That is all for now folks... We will be keeping you updated.

MSS: Festival of Nations, AGM, Soccer Competition

Dearest Member ,

We hope that the second semester is starting well for everyone and
would like to congratulate those who have recently graduated!! (Note
to new graduates: if you no longer wish wish to receive emails from
MSS please email the word "unsubscribe" back to this email address.)

We have the pleasure to announce that the Mauritian Student Society is
participating in our first Festival of Nations on the 1st and 2nd of
September between noon and 3.00 pm. We are planning to sell some
Mauritian Food (Gato Pima, Gato Banane, DiPain Frire and Alouda) at
very very affordable prices... :D MSS is investing quite a lot of
resources (human as well as financial) into this event and any help
would be greatly appreciated. Please contact us on maurissoc@gmail.com

Furthermore, we would like to inform you that we are holding the
annual general meeting soon. We will provide you with all the details
as soon as we arrange for the venue and the date. We shall be doing
the annual election for the new president, vice president, secretary,
treasurer (executive committee) and 3 general representatives.

Anybody interested to run for these positions please contact us as
soon as possible with a note about yourself and the position you want
to run for (you can run for more than one position). We will then
email your description to all other members so that you are familiar
to them on the day of the election. This is not compulsory but will
make things easier for everyone.

There are some rules pertaining to the elections namely the fact that
any candidate must be nominated by any one member of the MSS and be
seconded by another member. At least two members of the new executive
committee must be student union members as well.

Concerning the soccer tournament, we have not been able to book the
hockey pitch for the weekends nor have we been able to book a place at
the Princes Park due to water restrictions stuff-.-".... So we have
decided to organise it during the first week of the mid semester break
during a week day (cheaper) at the hockey pitch ( uni melb). Still
waiting for some more teams to register and just so you know, there
will be a fee to be paid per team ( for medals, food and booking of
the place...)

That's it for now. Please do come to the Festival of Nations and
bring your friends along... It will be fun!!!

MSS
